Shockwave Therapy

What is Shockwave Therapy?

Shock Wave Therapy is a non-invasive medical procedure that utilises high-energy shock waves to treat common conditions such as tendon and muscle pain including Tennis Elbow, Achilles Pain and Plantar Fasciitis. It is effective in providing clinically proven long-term pain relief.

How does Shockwave work?

This therapy delivers focused shockwaves to specific areas of the body, activating the self-healing process where pain occurs, leading to increased healing and less pain. At Top To Toe Health, we offer Extracorporeal Radial Shock Wave Therapy (ESWT) to using the latest Guided DolorClast Therapy (GDT) as its effectiveness has been clinically proven across 30-45 randomised controlled trials for different conditions.

What are the benefits of Shockwave Therapy?

NO SURGERY = NO DOWNTIME
NO INJECTION = NO COMPLICATION
NO PAIN MEDICATION = NO ADDICTION

Shockwave Therapy works best when combined with a comprehensive exercise rehabilitation program with our health practitioners, who specialise in the rehabilitation of acute and chronic conditions. Shockwave Therapy can:

  • Tackle muscle and tendon pain within 5 minutes
  • Reduces the inflammation from the 1st session
  • Enhance mobility and performance
  • Repair damaged muscle fibres and tendons

Are there any side effects?

Shockwave Therapy is also associated with few side effects and complications, making it an effective way for conservative treatment.

What does the treatment involve?

After a thorough initial assessment, if appropriate we will offer you the option of Shockwave Therapy

  • Shockwave  is applied to the exact location of pain
  • Treatment time is approximately  5 minutes in order to deliver the necessary dosage
  • A typical course of shockwave therapy will consist of 3-6 sessions, with 3 to 7 days in between session

Is it true that Shockwave Therapy is painful?

We will make sure the treatment is as comfortable as possible. We will be in direct communication with you to ensure that you never feel more pain than you can comfortably tolerate. As a general guide, we will keep the pain from the Shockwave under a 6 out of 10.
